My client office is midtown 37th st,  they work with QVC MFG Better Sportwear 

POSITION SUMMARY:

You must have a working knowledge of computer Patternmaking system PDS, like Gerber, Lectra, Tukatech to work with the international factors.

The Technical Designer is primarily responsible for brand fit product consistency, construction,

and quality as appropriate by category, keeping the customer top of mind. They must fully

understand each individual style to communicate to the offshore factories enabling style

execution. They must adhere to brand calendars and targets by working closely with cross

functional partners. They must be able to effectively communicate design fit intent via tech

packs created by them or via conference calls / video conference calls to an audience where

English is their 2nd language. Fitting of garments (cutting / pinning / draping) and recapping

those fittings is a mandatory skill.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  1. Work closely with Technical Design Director/Manager to enhance and evolve processes

and procedures, as business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the product.

  1. Maintain approved sample and block library.
  2. Maintain consistent fit across product categories. Ensure blocks are properly

established and correctly utilized.

  1. Effective communication and collaboration with technical counterparts at

vendor/factory and overseas team regarding all technical issues and sample corrections.

  1. Understand fabrics and how specifications impact garment fit – stretch, recovery,

modulus, etc.

  1. Partner with design up front to interpret style concepts.
  2. Create and maintain technical package in PLM system (Flex PLM). Ensure technical

packages are consistent with customer standards. Update package details as needed

with product evolution.

  1. Create and update missy and plus measurement specification in PLM.
  2. Maintain and update construction pages using Adobe Illustrator.
  3. Check and review graded specs for any discrepancies.
  4. Review factory patterns using CAD (Tuka) software for accuracy. Advise pattern

corrections as needed and collaborate with Patternmaker when necessary.

  1. Lead and own proto, fit and PP, size run and TOP sample fit session on mannequin and

live model.

  1. Prepare samples for fitting.
  2. Maintain a fit schedule by utilizing fit time efficiently.
  3. Take photographs on fit model- front, back and side, and any details.
  4. Evaluate fit and construction on samples.
  5. Document fit/construction comments, upload visual images and technical

sketches.

  1. Collaborate with production team to understand calendar and execute accordingly.
  2. Call out potential concerns up front. Elevate issues as they occur.
  3. Understand and execute efficiently and cost effectively all technical aspects.
  4. Review graded nests as needed.
  5. Participate in special projects.
